Art of the Title

The opening sequence I have chosen to analyse is True colours.

From the first image we see dark clouds the word dark is usually connected with evil and
sadness. The black clouds have a dooms day effect as they block of the sun and imply
change of weather. This could symbolise the change in behaviour this could be from good to
bad.







In the second image we see a snake, this is a long limbless reptile which has no eyelids, a
short tail, and jaws that are capable of considerable extension. The denotations of the
word Snake are scaly, reptile and without legs were as the connotation of the word snake
is malevolence and betrayal. This than implies someone who cannot be trusted or someone
who will do harm to you if they can because of this we commonly associate a snake with
rebirth and endless life.











Within the third image we see an abandoned car in a forest the surroundings are dead and
run down. A forest is often a place of deep mystery because of how concealing it is. The
word abandoned suggests someone has deserted the car, we see leaves on top of the car.
The aging leaves suggest the car been there for a long amount of time, not endowed with
life. The car is old rusty and has an eerie atmosphere








In the fourth image we see a child, I am aware this is a child because of the nature
of the teeth. However we are not aware of the gender of this child. The child
appears to have red around his mouth; red is the colour of blood and is often
associated danger, power, strength and determination. There is use of both light
red and dark red. Light red represented passion, were as dark red is associated
with rage, anger and the will to survive. The colour red also signifies leadership
qualities implying in this situation this child is in charge and in control.








The sixth image shows two women, the women on the right appears to be praying as she
holds both of her hands together tightly with her preciously eyes shut. It seems as though
she is praying in fear and in hope that something good would happen out of a bad situation
she looks to be in. The women is wearing formal clothing, on this, is a name card in which
we faintly see Church, this provides with evidence to say the women seems to be a
religious believer. In addition on the left we see a woman with strong blonde hair, in casual
clothing. Her facial expression appears to be frightened it seems as though the women on
the right is praying for her as the first thought that came to me when I looked at the women
on the left is wounded. She as well is wearing a cross around her neck which also shows that
she is an religious believer hoping good thing will happen out of a bad situation she is in,
however with the facial expression it seems as if she has lost hope already hence her facial
expression and the way her red lips is settled.





This is the last image the picture connotes a variety of different feelings and emotions
expressed through dark and deceptive colours. The majority of the photo is covered with a
dark shade including the water which is important as water is usually perceived as a bright
and natural element of earth. However, as we can see within this picture, the water is used
to contradict this emotion and counteract is with a deep expressive emotion of sadness and
fear.
