Project description

Thrusters and propellers loose thrust when the inflow is disturbed due to vertical
motion of the thrust unit. The cause is the changing inflow and also in some situations
also ventilation.
Groups of very wide offshore vessels such as for instance wind turbine installation
vessels suffer from thrust loss in waves.
The objective of the current study is to formulate a physically model for thrust loss
based on model tests with a thruster in waves or a thruster in vertically motions.
