I believe it to be in bad taste to attempt to manipulate the genes of your future children

when it is not just an attempt to make the future child healthier. If you want to alter your childs
genetics so that it is more attractive or talented then you are essentially trying to live your
life through your child. The child will have no say in what they want for themselves and who are
we to choose their future? I agree with Michael Sandel in the fact that this manipulation is set in
the desire to master life and remake nature. However, I also agree with Howard Trachman
when he states that we should not fear progress in diagnostics and medical manipulations. This
is because I feel that if we were able to enhance the health of individuals without causing harm,
it would be for the greater good of society.
