Response 3 September 7, 2014 Module Pgs. 1- 29 Some people may have trouble picking a certain discipline for what they want to study, or some may already know what they want to do but dont know how that discipline works. With Project Overview this helps out with both of those citations. Some concepts with a certain discipline may have discourse communities. A discourse community is a group of people sharing the same interest and for example it can be your area of study. Within this discourse community therere of course ranks in which people are in. For example there are your bosses, managers, and then your regular workers. Then there is the disciplines culture. Culture in a discipline is the experiences you have for that area of study and also lived experiences. With you having a certain culture this brings an easier approach for communication in your discourse community. There is also a certain type of research called ethnography that helps you see the different type of culture, practices, and artifacts for the discipline youre researching. With this research you are to generate a hypothesis, test your data (come up with and answer questions), and then come up with your conclusion or decision. The biggest part of this research process is to generate the right questions and to do that you look at all the context and this involves a lot of inquiry.
Explorations Ch.1 What is inquiry? Well when I put it in my own words it is you questioning something that you dont know and then finding out information to figure what youre questioning out. Inquiry also requires self-motivation. With this, this brings dissonance/exigence. Dissonance is you questioning something because youre puzzled and dont understand something, while exigence is you finding out the information to that question (taking action). These both go hand in hand for inquiry and whichever one can go first .Nevertheless I like inquiry because it brings out self-motivation and with self-motivation that person is always going to give 100% with what their questioning or working on for their major/job.
