Stage: One Lesson Title:

Positioning
Duration: 1 hour
Lesson purpose:
The purpose of this lesson is to gain greater knowledge on the students level of understanding in relation
to the topic of positioning. By directing the students on what they have to draw, it gives an indicator on how
well they have understood the content.

Mathematics Outcomes:
MA1-16MG: represents and describes the position of objects in everyday situations and on maps.


Introduction 10 minutes
Sit students on the floor and inform them that
they will be doing a quick question and 5 math
mentals. (multiplication & division)
Distribute math books and send students to
their desks to complete questions from the
whiteboard
When finished instruct students to come back
and sit on the floor.
Explain that we will be continue on learning
about positioning.
Body- 40 minutes
Instruct students that they are to think about
positioning, discuss with students the different
terminology.
Inform students that they will needed to draw a
town, but they will have to follow the
instructions given.
Students will be then given paper, instructed to
go back to their desks and start their drawings.
Give students time to make detailed drawings.
They will be need to label it and they can colour
it.
Bring students to the floor and discuss their
findings. Ask students to explain their drawings.
Collect work and mark.
Conclusion- 5 minutes
Discuss with students about the lesson. Ask
students if there was any confusion on the
concepts of positioning.
