In the year 2000 the Municipal Libraries of Aarhus introduced many new services

E-books and the E-library Eteket! a homepa"e for children called #rain$!
reservation and renewal via the net! e-mail notification on reservations and
new books and number of oter services%
&e had more than si' million hits on our homepa"es%
In the year 2000 we had a circulation of more than five million items!
traditional as well as new media%
More than two million people visited our libraries in person%
In 2000 the new (anish Library Act was passed!
and in the Aarhus Libraries we have formulated a common vision
and a set of values! that will form the basis of our future aims%
A comprehensive chan"e in or"anisation! introducin" the (i"ital Library and
an or"anisational unit will be implemented in 200)%
&e believe that in the comin" years
the libraries will be even more important for
the citi$ensfree and e*ual acces to knowled"e! competence
and cultural e'perience + and thereby
to inte"ration and democracy%
