Response to Intervention

(RTI)

Created by Jennifer Cady

Response to Intervention

RTI is an educational framework that supports
educational law; IDEA (2004).
Response to Intervention

The overall goal of RTI is to reduce referrals to
special education through early identification
and prevention of learning and behavior
problems for students struggling in schools.

Response to Intervention

RTI provides immediate support instead of
waiting for students to fail; however, some
argue that RTI data does not provide sufficient
data to rule out or identify a disability.
Response to Intervention

RTI has reduced special education placement in
K-3, for minority children, by 45%.
