Their homework will include spelling words from the list provided that reinforce this week's decoding lesson in their SLANT reading program, with the goal of improving their encoding skills. Students will be spelling real and nonsense words for the test following the above word structure. This will give students practice with encoding (spelling). Each SLANT lesson includes a dictation-spelling portion using the word structure provided above. This will reinforce their decoding instruction for the SLANT reading program. Listed below is a spelling list that should be used for their spelling homework. There may also be high frequency words included in their list. It is also beneficial to identify and point out the word structure of the week with words when reading with your child. Have fun!
