THIS is really a direct measure system for cutting

skirtsone I have used for many years, without


making any alteration in its construction except
to put it in the square for convenience.
I have not yet come across another system I
consider to be an improvement on this one.
However, if any readers know of one I shall be
pleased to try it out.
Commence measuring by putting a one-inch
belt round the customer's waist, in the normal
position.
Measures for this draft are: Top of front to
ground, 39"; top of side to ground, 40"; top of
back to ground, 40 "; waist 27"; hips 39";
length required, 29".
Direct Skirt System
Square the lines A, B and D.
A to B is the length (29).
A to R is 7 " for hip line.
A to C is 3 " for flare at
bottom. (Flare" is variable to
taste.)
C to D is the half hips measure
(19").
Square down from D to E.
A to F is waist plus " F to G
is 1"difference between top front
to ground and top side to ground.
D to H is waist plus ".
F to K is 3 " (same as A to C).
H to I is of H to K.
I to J is 1" (same as F to G).
D to S is "difference
between
top front to ground and top back to
ground.
O is the centre of l-F.
Square down from O to P.
Q to L is half hips measure plus
L-R is divided equally each side of
O-P (as M-N),
The quantity H-I is taken out in
the darts (1 and 2).
Complete the draft as indicated.
N o t e : All seams to be allowed
when cutting.
