Volunteers are needed to map park assets using a mobile app to collect location data, photos, and information about playgrounds, fields, and other amenities. This will create a database to help park staff update information and identify specific assets visually. Volunteers can earn community service hours while enjoying Jacksonville's parks and learning about Geographic Information Systems. Interested individuals should contact the listed GIS manager by the given deadlines to sign up for one of the mapping sessions.

Take a Walk in the Park! Collect community service hours by enjoying Jacksonvilles amazing parks. While working alongside the JaxGIS team with the City of Jacksonville you will be using a mobile application and learning Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Yes, take out your phone! This mobile app will collect and/or update park assets by defining a location, a photo, and basic information about the asset, which will then be stored in a map- based database for the entire city.
What will the App do? By collecting park assets, such as playground equipment and baseball fields, the application will ultimately allow park staff to visually identify specific assets, update, and correct information.
