Media Specialist will introduce to students what biographies are and lead a tour of the biography
section of the media center. She will begin the research process by having the students choose a
person they want to investigate. Students will check out a biography book on that person from
the media center. After the students read their biography, she will help them find other
biography books and reference materials on their biography character.
The twelve fourth grade classroom teachers will have been briefed on the activity by media
assistants. The classroom teachers will continue the biography research process in their rooms.
They will guide the students through their research to create a report covering the details of their
chosen character. The classroom teachers and parents will help the students create costumes
which would be appropriate to what their character would have worn.
Media Center staff will coordinate classes for the Biography Fair. A schedule will be devised for
classes to showcase themselves in their character costumes. Characters will be positioned as
