Health & Safety Concerns:

There were numerous hazards observed on location that could cause potential injury, harm or
discomfort to pedestrians crossing the bridge. These include, but are not limited to:
- Cracks in the sidewalk: The sidewalks were considerably weathered and require
maintenance/repair, if not could trip pedestrians.

- Exposed wire: Exposed electric wire with iron pike next to it proves a potential hazard.

- Loose pipes

- Open cavity between sidewalk and trusses: An open cavity separating the bridge
trusses and the sidewalk itself exists, which could cause potential injury to an
inattentive pedestrian.

- Insects nesting underneath bridge: Colony of bees residing underneath bridge can
potentially cause trauma to passers-by if disturbed in some way.

- Rusting iron wire railing: The railing barricading the outer perimeter of the bridge was
constructed with an iron mesh design. This, while effective at bordering the bridge
began to decay and rust. The iron joints within the mesh patter can scratch and injure a
pedestrian travelling too close.

Other safety concerns regarding motorist include:
- No shoulder to pull over: Due to the slenderness of the roadway, there is no shoulder
to pull over in case of an emergency; a potential traffic hazard for a bridge.
- No protection for motorist between steel trusses of bridge and lane: There is nothing
separating the road and the metal beams of the bridge. In the event of a traffic accident,
a motorist losing control on the bridge would collide with the metal beams increasing
the risk of a fatality.
