Grade Parents,

The second graders have recently begun a study of maps in
Social Studies class. As a culmination of our map unit, I
would like each child to make a special homemade map of
his or her own neighborhood. The map can be created on
construction paper and the dimensions should be no smaller
than 12" X 18", but it can be larger than that if you wish.

Please help your child complete this project at home. This
project will be a major part of your child's social studies
grade for the first marking period. Please assist your child in
completing this project, but make sure that your child is the
one doing most of the work and planning with assistance and
guidance from you.

Maps will be due by Wednesday, November 5
th
.
Attached you will find the rubric, which will be used to
determine your child's grade for this project.
