Metacognitive Reflections
In my revised paper, I changed parts so that they made more sense and supported my
point more. The first thing I changed was the title so that it was more creative and connected
more with my essay as a whole. Then I cleaned up my intro so that it is more fluid and extended
my thesis a bit more so it made more sense and so my point was clear. My biggest revision was
my second paragraph. I had to rewrite the whole paragraph in order for it to make more sense
and connect more clearly with my theme. If I were to write this essay again, or another formal
essay in general, I would take more time to do it. My usual process includes sitting there and
writing it and once its done its basically done. Ill read through it a few times after, and fix
some parts to make it flow better, but that will be my basic final draft. Next time I write a formal
essay, I want to start by writing a crappy first draft first, even though it will be challenging for
me to switch to something almost opposite from my current writing process. After I write the
crappy first draft, Ill make revisions and add more order to it until it turns into the final draft Im
looking for. This newer process will take more time than my original process, but I believe that
it will help me develop a better final product, since I know my final products now arent the best
I can do. This new approach to my writing process can also help me find ways to improve my
writing. I have been trying to improve parts to my writing for a while but its been hard with the
current process I use so this new one may reveal things that I havent noticed or havent realized
how to fix yet.
