ATOMIC PROPERTIES

Atom - The smallest particle you can obtain while still retaining its properties
Atomic Number - Number of protons/electrons in an atom.
Mass Number - Number of neutrons + protons (nucleons) present.
Ion - An atom that has lost or gained an electron.
Cation - A positively charged ion
Anion - A negatively charged ion
Isotope - Same atomic number, different mass number.
Electronic Configuration - Arrangement of electrons in its electron shells.


Proton Positively Charged Within Nucleus =Atomic Number
Electron Negatively Charged Orbits Nucleus =Atomic Number
Neutron Neutrally Charged Within Nucleus =Mass-Atomic Number
