Veterans Day
November 11

The Holiday that

Celebrates and thanks all
veterans that serve our country.

Veterans Day in Other Countries

The United States isnt the only country that honors veterans. Britain, France,
Australia, and Canada commemorate their veterans of both World War 1 and
World War 2. Canada has Remembrance Day and Britain has Remembrance
Sunday, which is the second Sunday of November. In Europe it is common to
have two minutes of silence every November 11 at 11 am.

History
How do you tell the difference
between Veterans Day and
Memorial Day?
Many people can get Memorial Day and
Veterans Day confused with each other.
Heres how you know which holiday is
which. Memorial Day is held on the 4th
Monday in May every year while Veterans
Day is on November 11. Memorial Day
honors dead American service members
that died serving our country. Veterans
Day celebrates both living and dead
veterans and gives thanks to veterans who
served their country honorably during war
and peacetime.

Veterans Day began as

Armistice Day on
November 11, 1919 which
was the 1st anniversary of
the end of World War 1.
19 years later on
November 11, 1938 it
became a national
holiday. President Dwight

D. Eisenhower signed a
legislation changing the
name to Veterans Day to
honor all veterans. Now
every year on November
11, we celebrate Veterans
Day and honor the
veterans that serve our
country.
