Science Observation
The objective for the lesson was students will define convection,
conduction, and radiation
Students watched a video that explained heat transfer and convection,
conduction and radiation
The teacher asked the students for examples in between the video
o Most of the students were able to give accurate examples
o For those that didnt she wouldnt just say thats the wrong answer
but maybe there is a better answer which I thought sounded better
than what I have heard from other teachers
Students were given a worksheet with the three types of heat transfer
Students filled in the blanks using the PowerPoint (This was there notes)
While they took notes the teacher walked around and explained what they
were writing
The teacher gave an example first of what the students activity sheet
should look like
o Students had to give an example, and an illustration
Students glued the worksheet into their science notebooks as notes that
they could refer back to
Students worked on a study guide with a partner once they finished the
activity
I noticed that the time allotted for science was 45 min but in that 45 they
also had to pack up so they really only had 30 min and science was only
three days a week
