Plurals

Most of English nouns become plurals by adding an s.


Ex: book books
card cards
pencil pencils

dragon dragons

But there are some rules


For nouns ending in ch, -sh, -s or x we add -es instead of s
Ex: match matches
bus buses
dish dishes

box boxes

For some nouns ending in o become plurals by adding -es


Ex: tomato tomatoes
potato potatoes
But there are some nouns ending in o that become plurals by adding just -s
Ex: piano pianos
radio radios
Nouns ending in consonant + y, change the y for I and add es
Ex: family families
fly flies
baby babies
Some nouns ending in f or ef change f/fe for v and add -es
Ex: wolf wolves
knife knives
wife wives
Irregular Plurals
foot feet
tooth teeth
man men
woman women
child children
mouse mice

ox oxen
goose geese
louse lice
person people
sheep - sheep
