Definition
One in every 691 babies in the United States is born with Downs syndrome,
or approximately 6,000 births per year
There are more than 400,000 people in the United States that have Downs
syndrome
Usually have a harder time learning, are slower to learn and talk, and also
are slower taking care of themselves
Are more likely to get infections that affect there lungs and breathing\
Treatment
Physical therapy and speech therapy can give the kids a boast their
walking and talking skills when they are younger
Regular medical care to treat the chronic health problems that associated
with downs syndrome is important
Children with Downs syndrome should receive regular vision and hearing
testing, be evaluated for thyroid dysfunction, and receive regular
immunizations
Child psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and developmentalbehavioral pediatricians help with the behaviors
