STRUCTURAL SECTION TABLES (SST)

Version 9.2
Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC)
INTRODUCTION
The Structural Section Tables, version 9.2, contain the North American database of
structural steel sections listed in the CISC Handbook of Steel Construction, 9 th
Edition All dimensions and properties are given in Metric units only
Edition.
only, with the
exception of the section designation, nominal depth and nominal mass, which are
also given in Imperial units.
Further information on the properties and dimensions contained in this database
may be found in Part 6 of the CISC Handbook of Steel Construction, 9 th Edition.
This spreadsheet is protected and its contents cannot be altered. In order to
work with the database, the cell data must be copied and pasted into another
spreadsheet. This may be done by pressing Ctrl-A to select an entire worksheet,
Ctrl-C to copy, and Ctrl-V to paste into a blank worksheet.
Although no effort has been spared in an attempt to ensure that the numerical
values in this database are accurate to a degree consistent with current
structural design practice, the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction does

CHANGES IN SST VERSION 9
1.
2.

Ten (10) new W-shape sections have been added.

The depth of the heavier W920 sections has increased slightly, and
designations have been modified accordingly.

CHANGES IN SST VERSION 9.1

1. Metric designation W920x345 (Imperial W920x231) changed to W920x344.

The nominal mass was changed accordingly.
CHANGES IN SST VERSION 9.2
1.
2.
3.

A new Excel format replaces the old ASCII text format.

Yellow highlights now indicate which W-shapes are readily available.
The availability of some HSS produced to CSA G40.20/21 has changed.
