Introduction and Objectives

Results

A lactylate is an ester of a fatty acid and the

hydroxyl group of lactic acid and is of interest as
a feed additive because of its distinct
antimicrobial action. A dose response study was
performed to determine the efficacy of lactylate
(PURAMIX
30
produced
by
PURAC,
the
Netherlands) in a subclinical Clostridium infection
model.

NINF

PURAMIX 30 (lactylate) is effective to control

Clostridium infections in broilers. It reduces the
incidence of necrotic enteritis and the severity of
lesions. Although PURAMIX 30 did not affect
production performance, mortality rate was
significantly lower.
