Celtic Woman
All-female musical ensemble
The ‘Celtic woman’ is an Irish group of talented musicians. They have become
one of the most commercially successful groups in the world selling more than 50
million records worldwide. The group was created in 2004 by David Downes,
widely recognized as one of Ireland's brightest stars following his musical work on
Irish stage show ‘Riverdance’. The first vocalists are Chloë Agnew, Órla Fallon,
Lisa Kelly and Méav Ní Mhaolchatha, and the fiddler Máiréad Nesbitt. However,
over the years, some of the group's members have changed.
Their genres are: Celtic, New Age, Adult, Contemporary, and Classical. This all-
female musical ensemble is successfully infusing Celtic music and culture.
