BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA
Section 1: This act will be known as the Raising of Smoking Age to 21 Act. Section 2: MAIN PROVISIONS: a) No one in Georgia under the age of 21 will be able to buy cigarettes. b) No exceptions will be granted under this bill in any situation, no matter the brand or the type of cigarette. Section 3: PENALTY CLAUSE Individuals who do not comply with this law will face a $2,000 fine with 6 months of jail time. Section 4: APPROPRIATIONS: There are no appropriations are necessary for this bill. Section 5: EFFECTIVE DATE: This bill will take effect 90 days following its passage and approval by the Georgia Legislature and signature by the governor.
