COMPUTING BY JULIET O.O.ALADE

RIGHT TO BE FORGOTTEN:
The topic right to be forgotten is a topic that has been generating a lot of
debate among the web users and especially among the countries that
comprises of the European Union (EU), and other countries that are having
either business dealing with such countries. According to the argument it
is believed that over 500m citizens that make up the European Union are
entitled to privacy of information that concerned them and that all citizens
have a right to request for an information to be deleted from the web and
that each members have a right to whatever information they might want
the Google or web to keep concerning them.
Davies (et al), 2014 of the Guardian Newspapers argued that Google should
be more transparent about the information they have about people and it
should also be more transparent about whatever information is been
deleted.
In deleting information under the right to be forgotten, is not going to be to
the benefit of the less privileged, as it is the more privileged that are
behind the scheme and many of them did not want some aspect of their life
to be make public and as such want to control the press as well as the web.
Like David Jordan, BBC Director of Policy says and I quote BBC content
including the trials report of real IRA members have been affected by
Google decisions to remove the search results.
The Economist in its submission explained that by the protection data,
over 500m citizens can have the right to demand what data a company can
have on them and can also demand that the data be deleted with all copies.
From the above quoting and explanation, I believe that some information
can be deleted from the data base, but any information that involved a
murder case, child molesting or abuse, any fraudulent cases or information
that can be a threat to the peace of the nation, all these type of information
should not be deducted from the data base and I believe that Google should
be able to use the discretion at to what information to keep of deleted.
