MAIN DISTRIDUTION FRAME (MDF):

In telecommunication, Main Distribution Frame (MDF) is a

distribution frame on one part of which the external trunk cables entering a
facility terminate, and on another part of which the internal user subscriber
lines and trunk cabling to any intermediate distribution frames terminate.
MDF is a cable rack that interconnects and manages the
telecommunications wiring between itself and any number of IDFs
(Intermediate distribution frame), which connects internal lines to the MDF.
The MDF is a termination point within the local Telephone exchange
where exchange equipment and terminations of local loops are connected
by jumper wires at the MDF. All cable copper pairs supplying services
through user telephone lines are terminated at the MDF and distributed
through the MDF to equipment within the local Exchange e.g. repeaters and
DSLAM. Cables to intermediate distribution frames terminate at the MDF.
Trunk cables may terminate on the same MDF or on a separate Trunk
Main Distribution Frame (TMDF).

KRONE:

The Krone connection system is a reliable and cost effective technique

for installation of communications, broadcast and data wiring and has
several advantages over solder tag methods, including significant time and
maintenance benefits. Krone offers a comprehensive range of connections
and wiring system, based on a standard 10 pair (unscreened) termination
module. There is a complementary range of accessories for testing
alternative equipment termination, cable distribution and jumpering. Krone
uses an insulation displacement connection which totally eliminates the
need to strip, solder or screw connect wires. Connections are made using
Krone inserter tool on a slot in the module.
Guwahati Refinery has about more than 1000 phones connected
through the MDF using 25 pair, 50 pair & 100 pair twisted pair copper
cables. The cables are punched into the 10 pair Krone with the help of a
punching tool. The 10 pair Krones are housed into a group of 10 so that 100
connections can be made in systematic order.
