Qlik (previously known as QlikTech) was founded in Lund, Sweden in 1993 as a sof

tware company in business intelligence (BI).[1] Its PC-based desktop tool was ca
lled QuikView. "Quik" stood for "Quality, Understanding, Interaction, Knowledge.
" Initially the software was sold only in Sweden.[2]
Mns Hultman became CEO in 2000 and Lars Bjrk became CFO. The company grew from 35 em
ployees in 1999 to 70 in 2003. In 2003, Qlik raised $12.5 million in capital.[3]
In 2005, the single-user desktop tool was replaced with a server-based web tool
. In 2004, Accel and Jerusalem Venture Partners, an Israeli venture capital fund
founded by Erel Margalit, invested in Qlik, turning it into an international so
ftware house.[4] Qlik established partnerships with Intel and HP, and incorporat
ed charts and colors in their UI. Qlik customers include DB Schenker, Dendrite,
Ericsson, and the Swedish Post.
In 2007, Lars Bjrk became Qlik s CEO. In 2009 and the company employs over 650 people
in 24 countries.[5] Its user base has expanded to 22,000 customers in 100 countr
ies.[6] The company held an initial public offering in July 2010. In 2010, Qlik
debuted on Wall Street.
As of April 2011, the company had a market capitalization over $2 billion.[7]
In 2013, the company opened an office in Western Australia
