OVERVIEW
The Department of Arts and Communication (DAC) is one
of the five departments in the College of Arts and Sciences in
UP Manila. DAC is the only department in the university that
offers subjects in communication and the arts.
The vision of the department is to help build a community of
scholars and professionals appreciative of the arts, proficient
in communication, and actively involved in the promotion of
our cultural heritage.
In line with this vision, the department offers two degree
programs: Bachelor of Arts in Philippine Arts and Bachelor of
Arts in Organizational Communication.
The BA Ohgentzationai C eenitniication program aims to
provide a holistic perspective of organizational dynamics in
the modern century by focusing on organization-related
comununication skills.
Because communication is a complex process in itself and a
vital factor in shaping human ecologies, the importance of
strengthening efficiency and effectiveness in communication
cannot be overemphasized, especially in organization
structures where needs are highly technical. Thus, the entire
program concentrates on an integration of written-oral skills
and not just the mastery of either oral delivery or written
technique as separate abilities. The Presses also seeks to address the increasing demand for
expertise in modern communication as related to organizations
in the Philippines.
A Buinguat approach is also adopted for classroom dynamics
to situate the study of communication processes and
organizational structures in the Philippines.
