June 2013 Knit-a-long Square

Waco Knitters 2013 Knit-and-Crochet-a-Long is a seven-month long project that will challenge
you to try new stitches and patterns. Each month we will provide a knitted and a crochet pattern
and turn it into a 12x12 square. At the end of the year you will have 6 (or more) unique squares
you can use to make a beautiful blanket.

Look at all those pretty stitches!


This Knit-a-long square consists of a raise diamond
pattern, which uses simple knits and purls to create a
nicely textured fabric.

Materials:
1 skein Caron Simply Soft or any worsted weight yarn
(100% Acrylic | 3.5 oz /100 g, 170 yards /156 m)
color shown: Dk Sage
1 set of size US8/ 5mm knitting needles
tapestry or darning needle
Gauge: 18 stitches x 22 rows = 4x4 in pattern
Pattern Instructions
Cast on 60sts
K 5 rows
Row 1: (RS) k7, *p1, k8, rep from * to last 8sts, p 1, k7
Row 2: k3, p3, *k3, p6, rep from * to last 9 sts, k3, p3, k3
Row 3: k 5, *p 5, k 4, rep from * to last 10 sts, p 5, k 5
Row 4: k 3, p1, *k 7, p 2, rep from * to last 11 sts, k7, p1, k 3
Row 5: k3, purl to last 3st, k3
Row 6: as 4th row
Row 7: as 3rd row
Row 8: as 2nd row
Repeat rows 1-8 until piece measures 11 1/4 from CO edge.

Repeat rows 1 and 2 once more


K 5 rows
Bind off all sts
Weave in ends
Lightly steam block to size
