Class Observation Task Evaluation Guidelines

MET 2 Class Observation Form

Dear future colleagues,

Please bear in mind that the nature of task is merely reflective and therefore
should focus on the procedures listed on the form and whether or not they were
observed by you.

After you are done with the observation, you will have to write a report based on
your observation. This document should not be judgmental or reflect personal
opinions. Your score with be based on the academic quality of your report.

Your report should be at least 1 full page (typed, 1.5 line space, Arial or Romans
font). Make sure to include this item in your portfolio along with a copy of the
observation form you used. (Although included in your portfolio, your report and
portfolio are two different grades).
Finally keep in mind that you should coordinate in advance with the teacher to be
observed, in order to be present on a lesson that will cover the main task to be
observed this month (Speaking / Communication).
A formal attire would be ideal, yet semi-formal clothing is also acceptable.
Be early at least five minutes and find a seat that will allow you to get a good view
of the board, the teacher and the students (ask T for permission first).
Some questions you may want to use in order to aid you during your reflective
process prior to the drafting of your report can be:
What are two aspects of this lesson that were effective to help students achieve
the activitys learning objective?
From an academic standpoint, as far as classroom management, materials and
teaching techniques, what would have done differently if you had been the
observed teacher?
Was the learning objective met (the aim)?
