URUGUAYMONTEVIDEO & COLONIA DEL SACRAMENTO
Montevideo
showcases the statue of Jose Artigas, the father of
Uruguays Independence from the Empire of Brazil.
Created as a buffer zone between Brazil and
Argentina, Uruguay finally attained her freedom in
1825. Here you also encounter the National
Parliament Building [Palacio Legislativo], the first in
South America. The city also sports excellent
National Museums, just waiting for you to explore.
As Montevideo is a coastal city, prepare for a mouthwatering catch-of-the-day seafood special along La
Rambla, the boardwalk spanning the city. The Port
Market [El Mercado de Puerto] is a hub of lunchtime
activity, including shopping for antiques. Afterwards,
the obligatory siesta a great time for you to relax at
the beach, or sip a cappuccino under the umbrella at
a sidewalk caf.
Colonia Del Sacramento
founded in 1680, the old historic center hasnt changed much. It
may remind you of the old Portugal sections of Lisbon, with its
winding streets and unique architecture. Located on the river Rio de
la Plata, Colonia became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995.
From here, you can venture by ferry to Buenos Aires if desired.
Since Uruguay and Argentina together boast 26% of the Top
Restaurants in all of Latin America, the only Spanish youll need is
Qu Rico! [Kay-reeko, how delicious!] Prepare to gasp at the vast
array of tastes and aromas to greet you, as we sample our way
through the gourmet chefs and seaport cafs!
INFORMED INVESTING
In Uruguay, get ready to take notes because well meet an attorney who specializes in
relocation and foreign residency. Later, well connect with our boots on the ground
investment expert Steve Rosberg, founder and managing-partner of Ushay
Investments. Steve will summarize the growing importance of international investing
along with diversifying your portfolio. He will also address profit plays in unique realestate developments, vineyards, timber and agriculture.
Throughout our tour, youll get to know numerous excellent contacts weve cultivated
over the past 15 years of travels to this unforgettable region of the world. To whet your
appetite, here is some recent data showcasing the opportunities that await you
Argentina hosts a large European population, who laid out the modern infrastructure
that you can enjoy today. Not to mention, the economic climate yields perfect timing
for investing. The European presence assures a host of multilingual helpers. And fullservice Spas ready to pamper you.
Argentinas famed Valdes Peninsula is another World Heritage Site, where towering
cliffs overlook stunning coral reefs. One of the richest wildlife habitats in the world, the
peninsula supports whales, seals and even penguins. You can even view the Southern
Lights from this diverse country. And the Glaciers National Park is one of the top
Argentine tourist attractions of South America.
Buenos Aires
is passionate for the arts. Travel & Leisure
magazine states, "Buenos Aires isn't the Paris
of South America anymore. Paris, we hear, is
the Buenos Aires of Europe." Here is the
birthplace of the erotic tango, passionately
performed on local street corners to tickle
your fancy.
A leisurely stroll along the boulevard and
through the lush parks will lead you past folks
reading, playing guitar and picnicking. As you
choose your way along the cobblestones of
the bohemian San Telmo neighborhood, you
can browse the many antique shops and then take in the scenery from a cozy old-world
caf as you sip on the richest flavors of coffee or wine.
At dinnerexecutive sommelier and President of the Argentine Sommelier Association
Andres Rosberg will select Argentinas best wines for us to share. A sommelier is the
one in charge of wines.
After a delicious breakfast, well head out
to Iguazu Falls for the Loi Suites Iguazu, a
purpose-built hotel set in a subtropical
rainforest on the rivers edge. In 1984, the
stunning Falls became yet another World
Heritage Site on our tour. More than 1,000
cascades thunder down 260 feet, enough
to fuel the whole country with its
hydroelectric potential! The mile-long site
is a preferred habitat for endangered and
rare species of plant and animal.
Bariloche
is the place for you, if you prefer the Swiss Alps
and chocolatiers. A laid-back town, its heaven for
the nature-lover. In the heart of Patagonia, the
wilderness of Bariloche will knock you off your
feet. Be sure to bring extra camera batteries.
The smorgasbord of outdoor activities includes
horseback, biking, trekking, white-water rafting,
kayaking and skiing just waiting to transport you
to another dimension of fun and enjoyment.
