Creating Circles on Geogebra

Step 1: Create a line segment, 2 cm (units in Geogebra) long.

Step 2: Click on circle when center through point.

Step 3: Click on point B then point A.

This creates a circle with radius=2cm.

Step 4: Click on angle tool and change to area.

Step 5: Click on the circle (the perimeter). This will generate the area.

Step 6: Click on the angle tool again (it should be on area right now) and change it to
distance or length.

Step 7: Click on the circle to generate the circumference of the circle.

Notice that the area and the circumference are equal for this circle. Now try circles with
different sized radii. Make sure to use integers, as this will make discovery much easier.

Assignment
2

Work in your assigned groups of two.

Create several circles with different radii.
Discover a relationship between area and circumference.
Look for patterns. Keep a chart of your discoveries on your posters.
