This program meets growing local, national and

7. Theology

8. Master of Marriage and Family Therapy

a. Master of Divinity: The Master of Divinity (MDiv)

program offers theological education that is in accord
with the standards of The Association of Theological
Schools (ATS). The MDiv program recognizes the
importance of each distinct tradition and ensures
that students become well acquainted with their own
heritage while remaining sensitive to denominational
interests. The program also facilitates transfer credit
with other seminaries accredited by ATS. Through its
multi-denominational approach, the Master of Divinity
program prepares people to serve and lead in
various Christian denominations and the community
at large.

The Master of Marriage and Family Therapy (MMFT)

program is one of only two Marriage and Family
Therapy degrees throughout Canada with international
accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for
Marriage and Family Therapy Education.

b. Master of Arts (Theology): The Master of Arts

(Theology) offers four areas of concentration (1)
Peace and Justice Studies, (2) Biblical Studies,
(3) Theology and Church History and (4) Pastoral
Theology.

and Ministry Practices: The Master of Arts in Spiritual
Disciplines and Ministry Practices offers three areas
of concentration: (1) Spirituality and Spiritual Care
(including Pastoral Education) and (2) Applied Ministry
(Centre for Christian Studies - CCS).

The strength of the MMFT is its clinical focus. The

core of the program is the 500 hours of therapy under
supervision that each student completes primarily
at Aurora Family Therapy Centre located on The
University of Winnipeg campus.Another reflection
of the clinical focus is that all Faculty members are
themselves practicing therapists, and all Supervisors
are approved by or Supervisors-in-Training with the
American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.
The program is structured to meet the needs of the part
time student; this fits for those already working in the
field who wish to develop a specialty in marriage and
family therapy, and for those who are just beginning
their career and need time and life experience to
develop as a therapist. The typical student registers for
the equivalent of one or two full courses annually.

Forthcoming Graduate Programs

1. MA in Urban and Inner-City Studies
(potential launch Fall 2013):

2. PhD in BioScience, Technology and Public Policy

(potential launch Fall 2014):

The Master of Arts (MA) in Urban and Inner-City

Studies is an interdisciplinary urban studies program;
it is urban studies from the margins, which means
a particular focus on urban poverty and inner cities,
Aboriginal people and newcomers and others who
are marginalized in urban settings, and community
development. The vantage point is those who have less
rather than more power. In addition, the MA in Urban
and Inner-City Studies will have a strong research
focus, and a strong hands-on character arising from
the practicum requirements built into the program. The
purpose of the graduate program will be to produce
students who have a deep understanding of urban
issues; an understanding that is both theoretically
grounded, and rooted in hands-on practicum-related
experience in marginalized communities; and to
produce students capable of conducting advanced
research in such settings.

The objective of this graduate program is to train

students not only in the advanced methods of science,
but to place this body of knowledge in the broader
context of modern society, while also training them to
communicate effectively with scientists and the public.
In addition to conducting research in BioSciences,
graduate students receive advanced training in both
the technology and policy dimensions of science
providing every student with a skill set that prepares
them to work in both academia and industry at an
advanced level in every area of biology. Students will
learn the critical skills of scientific literacy to allow them
to communicate effectively with the general public and
decision-makers. Graduates of our program will be
trained to make a difference not only within their own
field but in the larger world. The Doctor of Philosophy
(Ph.D.) in Bioscience will be, first and foremost, a thesis
and research-based program.
