How are you approaching your college experiences?


My goal is to approach college with an optimistic and successful attitude.

2.

What thoughts do you have about your career path?


Currently, I feel that my career path is right on the mark. The classes I am taking have never failed to make me
excited.

3.

Now that we are more than halfway through the first semester, what are you thinking about your major?
I am more confident about my major than ever. I am still learning my strengths, but they still point towards
accounting.

4.

If you have a major, what is it? Why did you choose that major?
Accounting!! Yes!!

If you do not have a major, are you ready to declare one? What major would you like to declare? Why are you
drawn to that major?

If you want to change your major, what major do you want to pursue and why?

How does the spring semester work into your decisions? Do you need to change your spring semester schedule?
My spring semester is putting me in two classes that are required for my major.

What do you think are some of the traits that will benefit you as you search for a job? Internship?
SOBE has great resources when it comes to this.

9.

What characteristics do you believe employers are looking for in a candidate? What can you do to obtain these
characteristics while you are in college?
Optimistic, educated in excel, on task. To get these I will just have to work hard to make these a habit!

10. How do you feel about the idea that you need more than your classes and major to land a job?
I think it is logical. As competitors, it is best to be involved, regardless if it directly relates to your major.

Mid-Semester Reflection Questions (due the week of October 20th) Respond to all questions listed.
1.

Develop goals for the second half of the semester, such as changes in study habits/self-management to which you
will commit. Remember to use SMART goals. A SMART goal is:

Specific - answers the six "W" questions (Who, What, Where, When, Which, and Why)

Measurable - establishes concrete criteria for measuring progress towards the goal (i.e. how will you know

your goal has been accomplished)

Attainable - ask yourself if you have the attitude, behaviors, abilities, skills, and means to accomplish this

goal

Realistic - represents an objective towards which you are both willing and able to work

Timely - must have a set time frame

Example: I will study Biology for one hour each day of the week, including weekends, upon returning from

Fall Break until the final exam.


I will complete my homework in a reasonable time and create a calendar and schedule to stay on track.
I will stay on top of my grades by checking in with the teachers and asking questions.

Reflect on who you have become and what actions you have been taking towards your educational and career goals
thus far.
So far, I have adapted rather well to the new working habitat but I could definitely increase my motivations in my
studies.

Discuss the differences you see in your current self from your high school self.
I am much steadier headed. I take my grades and work ethics much more serious.

What do you believe has held you back from achieving the grades you wanted this semester?
Mostly, I believe that too much social connections have held me back. I havent gotten use to the freedom yet

What do you believe has helped you achieve the grades you wanted this semester?
I have increase my study time just enough to make a difference.

1.

The Class of 2018 is the most diverse class LC has ever seen. What are some of the experiences you have had since
you arrived on campus with peers different than yourself? How has that shaped your view of the world around
you? How has that affected your perspective on your own upbringing? How have these experiences altered your
thoughts about how you were brought up? If they have not shaped your world view, affected your perspective of
your upbringing, or altered your thoughts, why not?
I have definitely been experiencing different cultures but I have always craved to know more about other cultures, so
it is exciting for me.

2.

How do you feel when you hear the terms diversity and inclusion?
I dont really feel different than normal.

How do you define diversity? How do you define inclusion?


Diversity is a group of people with different backgrounds and interests.

4.

What are some experiences or outcomes you hope to have at LC, related to diversity and inclusion, before you
graduate to better prepare you for the global society we live in today?
I hope to learn about other cultures and understand more about the world around me.

Weekly Reflection Questions 4 (due the week of September 22nd) Answer all questions listed below.
1.

In what ways do you feel you learn best? In other words, what is your ideal learning environment (how would the
professor teach, how would you acquire information, etc.)?
I learn best with hands on classes.

2.

In college, you are challenged to learn in new ways as you are taught by a variety of individuals with sometimes
very different teaching styles. What are some of the different ways you are being taught? How have you adapted to
that form of instruction (or, what do you do to learn in that class)?
Most of the classes I have been in have been lecture or basic group work. I have adapted by taking better notes and
increase my group communications skills.

3.

Hazel, Augustus, and Isaac had to to learn to adapt to new ways of managing themselves - their emotions, their
health, their time, etc. How have you been managing yourself since you arrived at LC? Is this different than how
you managed yourself in high school? Why or why not?
I have adapted rather easily because not much has changed yet. I made friends who have the same interest and my
classes are review classes.

4.

Time management is key to a successful experience in college. How do you manage your time? What tools do you
use to ensure you are effectively using your time each day?
I make calendars and schedules to stay on track of my work!
