Presidents Report
Hi all,

Presidents
Report
Carl McHenry

This my first Presidents report, I wish to thank everyone for their vote of
confidence and well wishes. A big thank you also to Dave Amor as the
outgoing President for the countless hours he has spent on behalf of the
club over the past few years.
Our last round at Phillip Island saw some of the best racing you could
imagine, great battles and great driving all the way down the field, but now
we must look forward to our next event.
The HQ 4 Hour at Winton. Not only is this the last round of our
championship, it is one of our premier events for the year and arguably the
most fun. This year will feature a Top Ten Shoot-Out and once again we
will be having a BBQ on Saturday, so team up and get your entry in.
On the subject of Winton, from now on, it will be mandatory to have a Race
Receiver. This is a small one way radio which allows race control to
communicate with the drivers. This has been introduced as a safety
initiative. They are available at Winton for a cost of $110 and they will be
required for all future events at Winton
Look forward to seeing you at Winton.
Cheers
Carl McHenry
President

Vice-Presidents Report
Vice-Presidents
Report
Andrew McLeod

Well the AGM has come and gone and we find ourselves with a newlook committee. It is fantastic to see some fresh faces getting involved
in Ray Jardine, Rod Earsman and Mick Magilton, all joining as General
Committee members. I would like to welcome them on board and I'm
sure these guys will bring new ideas helping the club going forward.
It looks like I will be trying to fill very big shoes stepping in to the Vice
President position with Carl moving up to take on the Presidents roll.
Carl has done an enormous amount of work for this club over many
years and I couldn't have thought of a better person to take on the top
job after Dave decided to step down. Just on that, I would like to thank
all the out going committee guys, Dave has left the club in a far better
position than it was when he took it over and although I'm sure he will
still be around the work and time he put into HQ Racing Victoria over
the last few years will be sorely missed. Also, Bob Wright and Rod
Vervoort are stepping down, thanks for your contributions.
With the Club in a strong position off the track, the biggest problem I
see with HQ racing going forward is the smaller grids we have started
seeing in recent times, resulting in us being grouped with another class
at the Sandown round this year. This is something that never works
well and is not a good look for our sport. The committee is looking at
ways to improve our grids so we don't see this sort of thing happening
but what I find interesting is we don't have and haven't had all year,
many cars for sale. Does this mean there are plenty of guys and girls
out there that are still keen to get back into it at a later date? Is it a sign
of the times or financial issues? Do members want to see different
styles of racing formats? Please, if you are one of these people come
and have a chat with one of us or send us an email, any feedback
helps, or if you are looking at selling your car also let us know, we
know of a couple of people looking for cars that want to get involved.
Our next big event is the 4 hour Enduro, possibly the best HQ race in
the country. Over the last couple of years we have had over 30 cars on
the grid and I would love to see that continue. The 4 hour is a fantastic
weekend, it allows for pit crew involvement, a bit of strategy is required
and of course a bit of luck always helps. We will again be having a
Saturday night BBQ and drinks and there may well be a couple of
exciting changes we are trying to get past Winton. With $2,000.00
dollars in prize money up for grabs, get your teams together and keep
an eye out for the entry forms which shouldnt be far away.
See you all at the track
Andrew McLeod

Round 5 Phillip Island

Round 5 of the Victorian Club Championship on October 4 & 5 was held at Phillip Island and also
incorporated our annual Dallas Crane Challenge event.
With the HQ Nationals held a week prior in QLD, where a number of Victorians competed, we were
glad to see 18 HQs entered for the event, including new member Nick Germanos and Taswegian
Skippy Parsons in the Paul Ireland HQ.
Weather forecast for the unpredictable Island was excellent with mid 20s predicted for both days.
Qualifying saw Rodney Earsman secure Pole Position with a time of 2:03.6829, followed by Rod
Raatjes, David Tessari, Carl McHenry, Andrew McLeod, Ken Wright, Marc Tessari, Brendan Avard,
Tony Moloney and Andrew Magilton filling the top 10 positions on the grid.
Race 1 on Saturday afternoon caught a couple of competitors out with the warmer weather at Phillip
Island and incorrect Jet selection with Andrew McLeod, Brendan Avard and Rod Raatjes retiring with
issues. Rod Earsman and David Tessari had a ding dong battle over the entire 8 Lapper with David
Tessari being the eventual winner, crossing the line just 0.4 seconds in front of Rodney. Ken Wright
was unable to hang onto the front two but had a great drive to secure Third position, followed by Tony
Moloney, Marc Tessari, Carl McHenry, Eric Hill, Skippy Parsons, Andrew Magilton and Ray Jardine in
10th place.
Sunday morning saw everyone back on the grid with Andrew McLeod making an engine change after
Race 1, joining Brendan Avard and Rod Raatjes at the rear of the grid for the race start. Again,
Rodney Earsman and David Tessari were up the front battling the lead for the entire 6 laps with Rodney
Earsman taking the honours this time. Unfortunately, David Tessari was penalised 33 seconds for an
apparent Jump Start, relegating him back to 17th place. With Davids second place being taken, Rod
Raatjes moved up, followed by Ken Wright, Carl McHenry, Andrew McLeod, Tony Moloney, Marc
Tessai, Brendan Avard, Eric Hill and Andrew Magilton in Tenth place.
Race 3 on Sunday afternoon was also the Dallas Crane Challenge Cup Race and the 9 Lapper
shaped up to be a real battle with a least 6 competitors on the pace to take the Title. From the start, no
one was able to make a break with the front pack making lead changes at almost every corner. Ken
Wright, consistently in the top 4 of the pack, unfortunately blew his engine on Lap 7 making for a
disappointing finish whereas David Tessari had a fantastic run from 17 th position on the grid to be
battling in the front pack by Lap 6. At the end of an unbelievably close 9 Lap race, Rod Raatjes came
home first by only 0.2 of a second in front of Rodney Earsman, followed by the hard charging David
Tessari, Andrew McLeod, Marc Tessari, Carl McHenry, Tony Moloney, Brendan Avard, Eric Hill and
Andrew Magilton in 10th place.
All drivers, throughout the entire field, should be extremely proud of themselves for some of the best
HQ racing to be seen in a long time.
This meeting was also covered by Daniel and the team at Blendline TV and will be aired on Channel 31
at a future date. Well keep you posted on airing dates and times.

The New Humour Section

A guy is browsing in the "North road" Albany pet shop, and sees a parrot sitting on a little perch. It
doesn't have any feet or legs.
The guy says aloud, 'Jeesh, I wonder what happened to this parrot?'
The parrot says, 'I was born this way. I'm a defective parrot.'
'Holy crap,' the guy replies. 'You actually understood and answered me. !'
'I got every word,' says the parrot. 'I happen to be a highly intelligent, and a thoroughly educated bird'
'Oh yeah?' the guy asks. 'Then answer this, how do you hang onto your perch, without any feet?'
'Well,' the parrot says, 'this is very embarrassing, but since you asked, I wrap my willey around this
wooden bar, like a little hook. You can't see it, because of my feathers.'
'Wow,' says the guy. 'You really can understand, and can speak English, can't you?'
'Actually, I speak both Spanish and English, and I can converse with reasonable competence on almost
any topic, politics, religion, sports, physics, philosophy. I'm especially good at ornithology. You really
ought to buy me, I'd be a great companion.'
The guy looks at the $200 price tag. 'Sorry, but I just can't afford that.'
'Pssssssst,' says the parrot, 'I'm defective, so the truth is, nobody wants me, cause I don't have any feet.
You can probably get me for $20, just make the owner an offer!'
The guy offers $20, and walks out with the parrot.
Weeks go by.
The parrot is sensational.
He has a great sense of humour, he's interesting, he's a great pal, he understands everything, he
sympathises, and he's insightful.
The guy is delighted.
One day the guy comes home from work, and the parrot goes, 'Psssssssssssst,' and motions him over
with one wing. 'I don't know if I should tell you this or not, but it's about your wife, and the post man.'
'What are you talking about?' asks the guy.
'When the postman delivered a package today, your wife greeted him at the door, in a sheer black
nightie.'
'WHAT???' the guy asks incredulously. 'THEN what happened?'
'Well, then the post man came into the house, and lifted up her nightie, and began petting her all over,'
reported the parrot.
'NO!' he exclaims, 'and she let him?'
'Yes.'
Then he continued taking off the nightie, got down on his knees, and began to kiss her all over.'
Then the frantic guy demands, 'THEN WHAT HAPPENED?'
I dunno responded the parrot I got an erection, and fell off my perch!

The New Humour Section

A man and a woman were sitting beside each other in the first class section of an airplane. The woman
sneezed, took out a tissue, gently wiped her nose, then visibly shuddered for ten to fifteen seconds.
The man went back to his reading. A few minutes later, the woman sneezed again, took a tissue, wiped
her nose, then shuddered violently once more. Assuming that the woman might have a cold, the man
was still curious about the shuddering.
A few more minutes passed when the woman sneezed yet again. As before, she took a tissue, wiped
her nose, her body shaking even more than before. Unable to restrain his curiosity, the man turned to
the woman and said, "I couldn't help but notice that you've sneezed three times, wiped your nose and
then shuddered violently. Are you OK?"
"I am sorry if I disturbed you, I have a very rare medical condition; whenever I sneeze I have an
orgasm."
The man, more than a bit embarrassed, was still curious. "I have never heard of that condition before"
he said. "Are you taking anything for it?"
The woman nodded, "Pepper."
The Naked Cowboy
A Sheriff in a small town in Wyoming walks out in the street and sees a blond haired cowboy coming
toward him with nothing on but his cowboy hat, his gun and his boots. He arrests him for indecent
exposure.
As he is locking him up, he asks 'Why in the world are you walking around like this?'
The cowboy says, 'Well it's like this Sheriff, I was in this bar down the road and this pretty little red head
asks me to go out to her motor home with her. So I did.
We go inside and she pulls off her top and asks me to pull off my shirt..... So I did.
Then she pulls off her skirt and asks me to pull off my pants..... So I did.
Then she pulls off her panties and asks me to pull off my shorts..... So I did.
Then she gets on the bed and looks at me kind of sexy and says,
'Now go to town cowboy. '
'And here I am.'
