Science Lesson Food Web

Organisms obtain energy from the organisms they consume. This transfer of energy
can be show through a food web.

Lesson Objectives

Students will be able to create a food web and show the flow of energy through it.

Students will be able to construct a paragraph about the relationship between

different organisms. This will be based on the food webs created.

Procedure
The teacher will show different organisms on the board. Students will have to use
the organisms provided to create a food web. This will be recorded in their science
notebooks. Students will use this food web to explain the relationship between the
organisms. They will compose a paragraph on the next page in their science notebooks.
Then the class will randomly be divided into groups of 6. Each group will receive a
worksheet with a list various organisms, including pictures that must be used to create a
food web. Once each group is finished with their foods webs we will regroup as a class.
Then as a class, we will work together to figure out how each food web can be connected.
Each groups food webs will be projected on the document camera.
Students will be assessed on the design of their food webs. The food web must
include color and pictures of the animals. Students should be able to create an organized
food web. They will also be assessed on how detailed their paragraph is describing the food
web. Their paragraph should include the relationship between the organisms that used in
the food web.
