The Photograph

John F. Kennedy Jr. salutes his fathers coffin along with the honor guard. This photograph
evokes very strong emotional feeling within me. The sudden death of President John F. Kennedy left the
nation in horror, shock, disbelief, denial, dismay and destruction of hope for a better future.
President Kennedy provided us with much needed patriotism, comfort, motivation, inspiration,
and enthusiasm during the peak of communism. The orator-ship and leadership skills he showed as the
president inspires many of my writings and my way of thinking. As the president he encouraged
volunteerism, development, and most of all funded the space exploration program (NASA).
In this photograph, a son is saluting his fathers coffin. John F. Kennedy Jr. lost his father at the
age of 3. Similarly, my father lost his father at the age of 13. And because of this, my father and I are
very attached to each other. I know one day will come when my father wont be able to stay with me
and I dont know what I would do I am survived only because of him. I am the John-John of my father.
The amount of trust and faith he has in me is beyond measureable amount. He says, Son failure is just a
stepping stone towards success. Rocket Scientist Von Braun failed ninth grade algebra and he turned
out to become a world renowned rocket scientist.
This matters to me because I can partially feel what John F. Kennedy Jr. and my father must
have felt like when they lost their respective father. Currently, my father is about 10,000 miles away (in
India) from me and the amount of attachment we have is making it hard to live away from him. He is
away because of his job. He is working over there so I can have a better future here. Thank you for
having this kind of assignment because this way, I have learned more about myself and presented
myself with the things I most care about!
