Reflective Analysis of Portfolio Artifact

Rationale/Reflection
InTASC/NAEYC Standard: Standard 3: Observing, documenting, and assessing to
support young children and families.

Brief Description of Evidence: (include semester completed) Fall 2014 I did an

observation at KinderCare Daycare in Muncie, Indiana over how the children play in
their environment. I was also able to see how the students interact with the parents,
because a couple of parents came into pick up their children around the time I was
there. When being there most if not all day, you can tell that the children really miss
their parents.

Analysis of What I Learned: I learned that students do get along with mostly all of the
other students in the class. One minute they will be mad at each other and the next
minute, they will be buddy with that person. Children mostly like everyone.

How This Artifact Demonstrates my Competence on the InTASC/NAEYC

Standard: That standard is about observing children and their families. When I went to
KinderCare, I did observe them and take notes. While taking notes I was just marking down
notes about what I noticed when parents picked up their children.
