The Joy of Reading and Writing:

The reading was mainly about how the author learned to read. The author learned to read
by looking through a Superman comic book. I found that interesting because I also learned to
read from a comic book. It was one of my dads old Avengers comic books.

The writer goes on to tell us about his childhood, and how his other friends would act
dumb in class, and how he was looked down upon for being smart. I can relate to that. My
friends in high school didnt excel well in school. They could tell you how to disassemble an
engine and put it back together, but not how to simplify an algebraic equation. Only one other
friend and I went to college after high school, out of my 12 friends.

The author in the end talks about how he would go back to his school, and talked to the
Indian kids about his experiences, and how reading and writing progressed him into the man he
is today. If I could go back to my high school I would like to have an assembly about how just
doing your homework can raise your GPA. I wish someone told me that when I was an
underclassmen.
