BCCIs never ending controversies!!

IPL has been again surrounded by a string of controversies and this time it is worst. Mr. N Srinivasan
has been making headlines yet again, for the wrong reasons. The shocking part is, he is still the
chairman of ICC (International Cricket Council) and was the BCCI Chief sometime back. Mr.
Srinivasan has been allegedly involved in a spot-fixing scandal, indirectly (direct charges have been
placed on his son-in-law).
Let us rewind a bit. He was holding positions of treasurer and vice-chairman of BCCI, was de-facto
owner of CSK at the same time. This is despite the fact that certain clause in BCCI code of conduct
states no administrator can have commercial interest in the matches and events conducted by the
board. As a devotee of cricket, it is shameful when I think about it!! The clause, which was framed by
the experts when came into limelight was amended to exclude IPL under its purview!! It took more
than 5 long years for the Indian judiciary to realize this obvious conflict of interests?? Almost one
and half-years after his son-in-law was arrested by Mumbai Police!! And ironically Mr. Srinivasan is
the same person who was a member of the investigation panel for J.M Dalmia corruption charges!!
Cricket is a religion in India!! We, the fans deserve to know the inside-out about the pundits of the
temple!! It looks like the players are forced into a situation where they do not play for fans/country
or even themselves. All they do, is dance at the whims and fancies of BCCI!! Can a board overpower
the sport itself?
The future of Chennai Super Kings lies in darkness. There a lot of stake-holders players, other
owners, sponsors, but most importantly, the die-hard fans!! A reinvention of terms, conduct and
responsibilities are required for teams, players and most importantly BCCI based on ethics, integrity
and sustainability. Reputed Supreme Court judges, law experts and players with credible cricketing
history should sit together, brainstorm and come up with the framework. Corruption has to be kept
away from sport at any cost and punishments should not be restricted to removal from
responsibilities but heavy monetary fines and being jailed as well. Those players who are proven
guilty, have to punished heavily to set examples. The police needs to be vigilant, wary about what is
going in the dark world of betting. The fans should join together in protests against corrupt
administrators/players.
This is the time for redemption and corruption would not be tolerated !
