Intelligence plus character~that is the goal of true education
Martin Luther King Jr.
I have known since I was a small child that I wanted to teach. I was refueled to want to teach
after working as an adult aide to GED and ESL students. I want to share my enthusiasm for
learning with students. To equip students with skills for college preparation. To make a social
impact.
I believe students should have an equal opportunity to learn, based on their needs, interests, and
abilities. Learning is enhanced with actual experience rather than vicarious experience. When
students are actively involved through exploration, organization, constructing, negotiating,
translating, extending, reflecting, and assessing ideas. In an atmosphere where people enjoy each
other's company and their accomplishments. Teaching soft skills through proper modeling.
By consistently demonstrating emotional and physical stamina and enthusiasm for teaching and
learning. Promoting socialization with the curriculum content as the focus. Utilizing Educational
programs that encourage parents to participate in their childs' education.
Encouraging parents to participate in their childs' education. By maintaining a classroom with
high expectations, in an atmosphere where the learning experiences match individual differences.
Create a learning experience in a risk free, relaxed environment so that students will succeed and
failure is not feared.
During my experience as a substitute teacher I have developed techniques for classroom
management. I have learned how to adapt and to think on my feet. I have learned from
many teachers their tools for the trade.
