edentulous patients.
- Know where the limits of the record base must be
located.
- Be able to evaluate the record bases built.

Materials

General description of the


practice

1. Explanation by the teacher.


2. Making of one upper and one lower record base.
3. Assessment by the teacher.

Protection elements (eye glasses, gloves, facemask).


This brochure printed.
Light-curing acrylic resin plates.
1 upper and 1 lower edentulous casts.
Pencil/carbon marker/mechanical pencil.
Cutter/blades/X-acto blade.
Wax knives.
Scissors (5 cm long).
Straight hand-piece (provided by the University)
Straight handpiece carbide burs for acrylic resin (H180-304).
- Straight handpiece polishing burs for acrylic resin
(different colors).
- Sponge.

Correct location of the limits of the record base
Fit of the record bases.
Finish and polish of the bases.

Expected time

2 hours.

Verify that you have all the necessary materials.


Explanation by the teacher and demonstration.
Determine the path of insertion for the record bases.
Locate the retentive areas and anatomical structures
that can interfere with the insertion of the record
base.
5. Draw its border over the cast according to point 4.
6. Soak the cast/s in water.
7. Place a plate of light-curing resin over the cast.
8. Adapt the plate to the cast.
9. Cut the plate according to the borders already
drawn at the cast.
10. Light-cure the record base.
11. Trim the borders to finally adjust its extension.
12. Polish it
