The Preamble
Imagine if the preamble of the constitution was never written. What would the United States
would be like after September eleventh would be like? The government followed three of the themes of
the preamble: promote the general welfare, provide for the common defense, and establish justice. So how
did the Government relate these three themes to their actions.
Overall Meaning
The government helps the victims of 9/11. The overall meaning of this is that the people were protected
by the provide for the general welfare part of the preamble. And the government did everything in its
power to help and justify the people. Another thing that the government helped us was when the sent
troops to Afghanistan to establish justice and provide for the common defense. The people felt happy
and just when they found the the government did what was constitutional to the people and those who
were lost.
Porpose
The purpose of the preamble being in the constitution is to summarize what the constitution is
talking about. The framers of the constitution were worried that people would not read all of it so they
created the preamble to make it simpler. Its other purpose is to make sure the acts of the government are
constitutional. Another purpose for the preamble is to define the reasons in the constitution. The last
purpose is to establish what justifies the government.
So how did the government stay loyal to the preamble throughout the events of 9/11?

The government had a way to dealing with 9/11 as if they already knew it was going to happen and that
they had outlined everything as if they knew what to do, the preamble. They used three phrases for the
preamble so they knew what to do about it. One was to provide for the common defense what they did
with this was they sent troops to Afghanistan to kill the people responsible for the attack. That also tagged
along with number two establish justice in which the supreme court and congress agreed on sending
troops to Afghanistan to punish the terrorists. Three was to promote the general welfare this was
showed by compensating the victims and families, it was also showed by all the govenment workers and
firefighters cleaning up all the destroyed buildings. Now the govenment used the preamble to be a few
steps ahead of the next attack using planes. some of these precautions include all new safety features and
ways of doing things in a plane. The government also placed new taxes to raise money just in case, one of
these taxes is the Sept. 11 tax. Of course, the government did nothing that was not within their
outline. Now the government has taken all last chances and precautions with airplane safety so nothing
hopefully will happen again like 9/11.
Conclusion
So now the people know how the government used the three themes in their actions. The
government used provide for the common defense, provide for the general welfare, and establish
justice to do what they needed to do. So what would you do if you were te president and had no
preamble to follow while handling 9/11? And what would you do if you did?
