Inaccordancewithstaterequirements,theCognitiveAbilitiesTest(CogAt)is
offeredatdifferenttimesduringtheyear.Themidyearadministrationofthe
CogAtforCanyonViewwillbeonThursday,January8,Friday,January9,
andthefollowingTuesday,January13,2015.Parentsof3rd,4thand5thgrade
studentswhoarenewtotheschoolorHAVENOTbeentestedinthepasttwo
yearsareeligibletotestatthistime.Studentswhoarecurrentlyreceivinggifted
servicesdonotretest.

TheCogAtisusedtoidentifystudentsforgiftedservicesandisrequiredfor
studentswhowishtobeconsideredforInterdisciplinaryStudies(IDS).Parents
whowishtohavetheirstudentstestedmustcompleteaPermissiontoTestform.
ThisformtorequesttestingmustbeturnedinbyJanuary6th,2015.The
permissiontotestformisavailabletoyoubyemailwiththegiftedspecialist
(LCooper@cfsd16.org).
Thetesting,whichisdonebeforeschoolat7:15intheIDSroom,takes3sessions
tocomplete.Studentsmustbepresentforallthreedays.
Itisrecommendedthatparentsconsultwiththeclassroomteacherand/orgifted
specialistbeforerequestingtesting.
