Goal: To give children an understanding of the dierent occupa6ons that exist in the
community and the job that they do and to give them an idea of what type of grown up that
they would want to be when they grow up

Objec0ves:
For children to be able to iden6fy occupa6ons that exist in in the story and create an idea of
what they want to do when they grow up.
Find pictures of objects that correspond with dierent community helpers

Laminated objects and occupa6ons

Extension:
Introduce dierent career ouEits in drama6c play area for the children to drama6ze those
professions with guidance.
Bring in a variety of occupa6on puppets for children to make a play and sing song with the
tune Happy birthday to you.
Inves6gate what jobs neighbors in their own community do.

Adapta0ons-
Translate into Spanish and English for all the children.
Have the child who needs glasses sit closer to the book (in case glasses are not worn)
Ask for help from teachers to help and sit close to children that are very busy.
