(This might include areas of interest, learning styles, learning disabilities, distractions, physical disabilities, social skills, etc.)(15 pts) ‘After giving the learning styles test I found out that Tiana is a kinesthetic and visual learner. She gets out of her seat multiple times to sharpen her pencil. She always takes the longest way back to her seat to chat with people along the way. She struggles with spelling and won’t even try to sound a word out She is the oldest child and her mother expects her to help get her younger siblings ready in the morning. She has an IEP for learning disabilities and has an aide that sits next to her to help. Identify a behavior or an academic skill that you would focus on to help this child be more successful at school. (Some suggestions are: staying in seat, developing social skills, completing assignments, anger issues, more challenging assignments and/or instruction, etc.) (10 pts) \D ‘The behavior that I chose was staying on task. If she were to stay on task she would be a lot more successful in class. I think that if she was allowed to stand up and do her work on a clipboard so that she was allowed to move around. Providing a reward system would be a good way to keep her on task as well as giving her positive feedback constantly: Describe how you will use specific information collected from the three assessments listed above in a plan to help this student improve his/her behavior, make school more meaningful and successful and/or help this child to develop socially, intellectually, and/or emotionally. (The information collected might include: favorite foods, favorite school content areas, social skills or social settings, personal areas of interest such as animals, electronics, sports, countries other cultures, learning styles, etc.) (15 pts) \O After giving all three of these assessments I feel that she would really benefit from an aide helping her or being allowed to use a clipboard to do her work on. Giving her a little bit of work at a time would also help for her to not feel overwhelmed and might keep her on task. Providing visuals while teaching would also help for her to better understand things. Giving her more time to read things would also benefit her so that she didn’t rush through without reading them.
