- Born in Austria but soon


moved to Switzerland to
escape the 3rd Reich & for
work

- Was the wife of a Presbyterian


Minister, and Was discouraged
to enter Dalhousie University,
due to the stigma of women in
law

- Offered fair wages & to


discourage unions from
controlling the company

- Rarely was given clients, but


prepared documents for the
firms lawyers & she was soon
determined to be a valuable
asset to the firm
- -appointed to the Ontario court
of appeal, was not afraid to
speak her mind & opinions

- Had his own machine shop


which grew rapidly. By 1959,
received a major order from
GM for door brackets to be
made in his machine shop.
From this point, his business
began to grow & become
increasingly successful.

- Graduated with Honors in


1957, & got a job at a law firm
in Toronto after her husband
was posted there from the
Ottawa Valley. She got a job
but wasnt given many duties,
or given many clients at first.

- He merged his company


with Manga electronics not
only to increase business, but
to reward successful plant
managers. As a result of the
merger and the incentive
program, his business
expanded rapidly & by 1984
had sold $500 million in car
parts

- Despite having little time


exposed to clients, she had
the laywers she was writing
reports for come to her for
help on how to manage their
cases in court. She was
appointed to the Ontario
court of appeal in 1975, and
later became the first woman
appointed to the supreme
court in 1982

Conclusion
Although Frank Stronach worked very hard &
became a very successful businessman, Bertha
Wilson overcame social stigmas and greater
boundaries than Stronach. Although Stronach
was a well-respected businessman, Wilson
had more positive and effective change for the
lives of homeowners, and women's rights,
thus making her the greater Canadian.
