V for Vendetta by Alan Moore is set in a dystopian version of London in which
everything that could go wrong in terms of government and civil liberties has in fact gone wrong.
The world they live in has a very strong 1984 feel to it and is overall a not so fun place to live in.
The hero/antihero of the novel attempts to fight back against all these injustices put in place by
the government, and although he is only one person he does in fact cause a lot more disruption
than one expects. Alan Moore uses the world of London in V for Vendetta as an example of what
can happen if people allow too many civil liberties to be taken away to the point of police states
forming, How control of information further amplifies these effects, and how small groups of
individuals can actually fight back when all hope seems lost.

of our civil rights in exchange for peace of mind, similar to Orwells 1984.

Conclusion:
The world of mystery from V for Vendetta can be seen as a warning, much like Orwells 1984.
Although some of the thing going on may seem far-fetched or crazy, they could be things that are
going in our world now. The graphic novel could be seen as not only a warning, but also a call to

action. In the novel it is shown what the actions of one person can do, and similar occurrences
have happened in our lives today, and Moore was trying to warn the world while also trying to
spread this message.
