POLYMER CEMENT MORTAR

It is impermeable material.

Plastic based chemical, once it is hardened gives plastic coated

surface.

It is used to avoid leakages.

PROCEDURE
Mark the portion to apply polymer with chalk.
Remove the marked portion with chisel and hammer.
Break the plaster such as the corroded steel get exposed
fully in concerned repair area.
The exposed bars are cleaned with water and rubbed by
wire brush.

Apply Rusticide (Anticrrss) over the cleaned bars with

brush and allow to dry before continuing.

BOND COAT

Apply the slurry of cement

and corrosion inhibitor with
brush in the ratio of 1:1 in
2 coats. It is known as bond
coat. It is also known as
Passivator.

It is used to bond PCM to

the old concrete.

Second coat is applied 4hrs.

after 1st coat

PREPARATION OF P.C.M
Polymer mortar of ratio
1:5:15 (Polymer: cement:
quartz sand) and addition
of water is made with
proper mixing.
As the mortar is in less
amount to get mixed
properly, PCM is mixed
with hands.

The mortar is applied

tightly on steel with
hands to get the grip.
Reinforcement steel is
covered completely with
PCM.

The rough surface is

created for the first coat
plastering.

Polymer is done upto

20mm thickness. It
should be applied in 2
coats if more than
20mm.

Curing should be done

for 3 days.

ADVANTAGES
PCM gives the strength that equal to concrete to the
damaged RCC members.
It prevents leakages from the RCC members.

Prevents the reinforcement steel to get corrode.

DISADVANTAGES
Application of PCM requires skilled labors.
The chemical required should be the waterproofing
chemical only ( Master Plaster)

High cost.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Compressive strength: 35N/mm2 after 28 days.

Tensile strength: 6N/mm2 after 28 days.
