Math 1010: The most dropped out of and failed class in the nation. Going into Fall 2014
Semester, I knew that I would be taking this famous, and not in a good way, class. I was not very
excited, but knew that it was a class that I needed to take both for my long term goals and to
complete part of my general education. I had taken 3 previous semesters of Math, and went into
Math 1010 feeling pretty confident.

As class started, I actually felt pretty confident in my abilities. My previous teachers had
successfully helped me to get where I needed to be to start Math 1010. In fact, within the first
few weeks I was quite thankful for them. I noticed that some students did not understand basic
principles that were needed to complete the information that we were learning. Along the way
the lingering question that I kept asking myself was: how is this going to apply in real life? By
the end of the semester I understood how some of the equations that I had learned could be
applied in real life situations. Below this assessment I have attached an assignment showing
how it can be applied.
I do admit that near the end of the semester I fell behind a little, and this hurt my final
grade. But in all, I feel like I have learned the fundamentals of Algebra, and am thankful for my
teacher for teaching me these fundamentals.
