What is an MOOC?
A MOOC is a Massive Open Online Course accessible for:
Students
Businesses & Non-profits
Instructors and Course Authors
This means its an open class for anyone on the web. This
allows collaboration all across the globe!

Key facts
Massachusetts Institute for Technology began its OpenCourseWare
16 years ago. This was a format that allowed others to view lectures
and made e-learning more accessible.
Itunes U was an early form of a MOOC by allowing access to
university lectures via podcast and video.
MOOCs became extremely popular in 2012.
Udacity, Coursera,and edX are popular MOOC sites.
